Lux Futurum, Your Window into the Future

Many of you are aware that I am one of the founders of our Virtual Lighting Design Community. Sharing my knowledge, acquired over more than 45 years now, is one of my passions. What is specifically rewarding is that the industry we are living and working in has never had a dull moment. The lighting industry has been evolving as long as I have been in it! And I can relate!
Way back in the 70-80’s we only had the fluorescent tube and the incandescent lamp types to work with as a lighting designer, but look where we are today: Integrated lighting in building materials, unprecedented miniaturisation of the lighting point, sensor driven capabilities, remote controls, unmatched rendering and modelling lighting software, the ability to influence human behaviour with lighting, the opportunities seem infinite with no end in sight!
That is where Lux Futurum comes in, a brainchild of our VLDC team in collaboration with the Zhurong awards team from. We all dream and love to immerse ourselves in an imaginary world at times. With Lux Futurum we aim to create a portal, that will allow you to get a glimpse on how (lighting) dreams are being turned into reality! With Lux Futurum we are looking for visionary ideas, projects or people to showcase them to the global community and give a window into what the future of lighting will look like! Inspire the new generation to what will be possible!
Lighting is one of those technologies that have still a long way to go. The interesting thing is that lighting is becoming much more then lighting. The lighting point will just be the carrier of so many other things integrated, the visible and the invisible, the physical as well as the emotional!
