Unexpected Recognitions
Just when you thought you have seen it all in terms of recognition, something unexpected pops up. Tatlers, a well known lifestyle magazine, decided that a dining experience in a restaurant or club is not complete without reviewing their bathrooms. Under the slogan, our bums are as precious as our palates, they reviewed the newest additions to the Singapore food and beverage scene and decided that our 67 Pall Mall Club located in Shaw Towers, was worthy of the title best bathroom experience in Singapore!
A great job done by Rockett Studio, to which I like to think our beautifully integrated mood lighting played an important role in securing this “title”. The project itself had already received several (lighting) awards since its completion, but this probably is a recognition from a totally unexpected angle.
It is true, a clean and stylish bathroom adds to the experience, so it is not surprising that designers these days pay a lot of attention to making sure the bathroom is an artful design extension of the main space. It is becoming a must visit experience in today’s projects so much so that as much thought goes into these spaces as you would do for the main space incorporating the same design philosophy.
It also takes a client to appreciate the value of extending the same design quality into what generally is considered a secondary space to which cost cutting can be applied. This recognition proves the contrary. It’s one of these projects that keeps on giving from the most unexpected angles. I certainly did not see this one coming 😊
